The Izod Impact Tester uses a cantilever to support a hard plastics test piece with or without a notch,gives a rotary hammer to give an impact and destroy it,measures energy required for the destruction,evaluates the Izod impact value,and determines the impact resistance,brittleness,toughness,and other characteristics of the material.
