PGX+ Pocket Goniometer

TQC Sheen is welcoming a new product: the Pocket Goniometer PGX+. PGX+ defines several surface and liquid properties for quality control.

he instrument measures the dynamic and static contact angle of a predefined liquid on paper and board, solar cell panels, windshields, metal cylinders and similar surfaces. PGX+ uses a camera which can take up to 80 images per second. This way both the static and the dynamic contact angle of the droplet can be measured. The Pocket Goniometer may also be used to measure Surface tension and Surface ¡°free¡± Energy (SFE).

Conform to international Standards

PGX+ Pocket Goniometer conforms to all major international standards, including ASTM D724, Standard test for surface wettability of paper (Angle of contact method), and ASTM D5946, Standard test for Corona treated polymer films using water contact angle measurements.

TQC Sheen Pressure Density Cup

High reproducibility

After rotation, agitation or dispersion gas and air can be entrapped within a material like paint. Density or specific gravity (SG) is affected by entrapped air bubbles in the liquid under test. Under pressure the air will dissolve better into the liquid.

A Pressure Density Cup has a fixed internal volume of 100 ml. which is to be compressed by the mechanism of the density cup. Any bubbles that are left undissolved will be compressed to a fraction of their original size. Density of the liquid is defined at a very high level of repeatability by weighing. This method has high reproducibility.

The TQC Sheen Pressure Density Cup can easily be taken apart to allow easy cleaning. The cup comes with a desktop holder, 25 mm and 40 mm brush and a calibration certificate.

C&W Humidity Conditioning Cabinets

For testing under temperature, humidity and environmental conditions

Testing under specific temperature humidity and environmental conditions is essential for research chemists, developers and QA managers. The aim is to check that products are being developed and produced in line with the established standards, and of course that they are suited to their final application.

C&W Humidity Conditioning Cabinets can be deployed as a variable conditioning cabinet, a temperature cabinet, a climate cabinet, or as a standard conditioning cabinet. Both temperature and humidity can be programmed to operate in increments.

Successful coating performances

With the PTK Pre treatment Test Kit

A clean and well-prepared surface is essential for successful coating performance. After all, most coating defects arise from careless pre treatment.

To inspect the purity of a steel surface after it has been blast-cleaned, TQC Sheen offers the PTK Pre treatment Test Kit.

The BASIC KIT contains a Bresle Test to measure the presence of (invisible) soluble salts, and a Dust Test Kit to qualify the visible contamination.

The FULL KIT includes further test equipment, such as a DewCheck thermo-hygrometer and a Surface Roughness Comparator, roughness and corrosion standards, and other inspection aids, such as a flashlight.

With the Pretreatment Test Kit, you have everything you need to take your coating performances to the next level.

DewCheck helps prevent detachment of paint

With the change of weather conditions, the dew point can be observed easily. For example, when you see condensation on windows. The dew point is the temperature at which air can no longer retain its water vapour and water droplets or condensation form. Condensation occurs when the air temperature drops. The colder the air, the more difficult it is for water to be retained in vapour form. For example, condensation forms on a window if the cool night air from outside lowers the surface temperature of the glass and the humidity inside the house is high enough.

Prevent condensation

When doing paintwork inside and outside, it is essential that no condensation forms during application and drying. But how do you know when that is? To assess the risk of moisture formation on a surface, the temperature of the surface to be treated and that of the surrounding air are required. The rule is that the optimum surface temperature for applying paint must be 3 °C above the dew point. Otherwise there is a risk of trapped moisture. This can cause haze and detachment.

Measuring the risk

The portable TQC Sheen DewCheck quickly calculates the dew point. Using the DewCheck, you can monitor air temperature, surface temperature & relative humidity. The display clearly shows how far off the critical dew point limit is. When the critical limit is almost reached, the meter sounds the alarm. The Dewcheck dew point meter monitors the weather conditions during the application and drying phase of the paintwork. This can save a lot of misery and costs. Both in the short and long term.
